Did you know that every single year...
- Billions of dollars of life insurance goes unclaimed every year
- Insurance companies do not seek out beneficiaries of life insurance policies because they assume that the insured simply stopped making their payments
- Insurance policies themselves do not physically list or name the beneficiaries, making it even more difficult for loved ones
- Attorneys rely on reading obituaries or having family members know to contact them in order to execute wills the way the deceased arranged
This is a big problem that gets very little attention. Unfortunately, your loved ones may not inherit your assets and will be forced to go on with their lives without the financial preparations you had put in place for them. Additionally, wills are often lost because the family may not know who to contact or where to find the most updated will. Do you have a family attorney that holds your will? Do your children know your attorney’s name and contact information? To this day, attorneys have no way of knowing when you pass; they rely on your family members to know to contact them.
Until today, there is no official location to store such important information. What this means: if you hold a policy or investment that your beneficiaries are not aware of or forget about, they will most likely never receive it. There is no national organization or government agency that your beneficiaries can contact to obtain information on your investments and policies. Nobody will get in touch with them to inform them of any inheritance or assist them.
WeRemember.org was created to change this. Your beneficiaries should be receiving all of your assets. There should be a secure database to register such important information. Someone should contact your beneficiaries and inform them of all assets under their name.
